Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Plant Operator to operate our mobile test unit. The operator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the plant, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and/or mechanical equipment typically found within a chemical processing facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in plant operations, instrumentation, or plant maintenance, and will play a key role in achieving operational goals during test campaigns.

Rotating shift schedule of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, up to 84 hours per week, with 14 days on, 14 days off rotation.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Plant Operation & Monitoring:
      Operate and monitor the carbon capture plant from the onsite control room, ensuring all processes are running efficiently and safely.
    • System Control & Troubleshooting:
      Perform routine system checks, diagnose operational issues, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure continuous plant operation.
    • Data Collection & Reporting:
      Collect and analyze operational data, ensuring compliance with project parameters. Maintain accurate records of performance metrics, CO2 capture rates, and equipment status.
    • Safety & Compliance:
      Follow all safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies related to plant operations. Ensure that plant activities comply with environmental and safety standards.
    • Maintenance & Equipment Care:
      Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of equipment to prevent downtime. Report any equipment malfunctions and work with the operations team to arrange repairs.
    • Collaboration & Communication:
      Collaborate with engineering and technology teams to optimize plant operations. Communicate effectively with the operations team, the customer, and management regarding operational status, issues, and improvements.
    • Process Optimization & Innovation:
      Contribute insights and suggestions to optimize technology performance, energy use, and overall process efficiency.
    • Training & Development:
      Participate in ongoing training to stay current with CO2 capture technologies, safety procedures, and best practices.
    Qualifications:
    • Education:
      • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or technical certification in electrical or mechanical maintenance, or a related field is a plus
    • Experience:
      • Experience in operating industrial plants, ideally related to carbon capture
      • Experience with industrial control systems, SCADA systems, or similar process automation technologies is preferred
      • Experience in maintaining equipment generally found within industrial processing facilities (O&G or Chemical)
    • Skills & Competencies:
      • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
      • Knowledge of carbon capture technologies and environmental sustainability practices is a plus
      • Ability to monitor and operate complex systems and equipment
      • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
      • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
      • Ability to work in a team and collaborate across departments
      • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Certifications:
      • Valid driver’s license
      • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid, etc.) are a plus
