Fiber Optic Engineer

This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a nationwide Oil & Gas company in Sugar Land, Texas

Job Description:
Pay Rate: $90k-$105k/yr full benefits
Shift: 8am - 5pm. Option to work remotely 2 out of 5 days per week.

We are seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join our Cables Sustaining team and support our latest Fiber Optic Cable Technologies and products. As Fiber Optic Engineer you will have the responsibility to provide engineering skills to deliver innovative and cost-effective cable solutions requiring development and/or sustaining of new or improved cable design/manufacturing techniques, procedures, and products. This position partners with engineering, manufacturing, field operations teams and raw material manufacturers/suppliers. You will assist in planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet the project objectives in a timely fashion. Strong presentation and organizational skills are essential.

Roles and Responsibilities:
•Identify and organize product or project requirements. Apply usability procedures and principles as defined at the project or product-line level or through customer input.
•Design, produce analyses, mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those.
•Build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing. Design test procedures, conduct tests, and document test results in collaboration with cross-functional team.
•Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code, and other artifacts.
•Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks to produce and iterate development plans. Contribute to design standards and support design re-use (best practices, etc.)
•Create and maintain product documentation (requirements, specification, design, development, integration, test procedures and results) following the product lifecycle of the project.
•Design and improvement of materials processes and processing equipment used in development and manufacturing of fiber optic cables.
•Perform physical failure analysis of electromechanical products and related manufacturing processes, determine failure root cause, and appropriate corrective actions, and implement those actions.
•Strategic identification and prioritization of issues and corrective actions.
•Develop client presentations, provide training and support to clients and field representatives. Prepare operations support technical documentation in a timely fashion.
•Ability to prepare technical presentations and succinctly communicate to technical and executive management audiences on periodic basis.
•May assign, direct and review work of technicians and provide guidance to engineers. May mentor junior engineers regarding technical matters.
•Author/co-author technical reports, papers, articles, patents, and presentations.
